Conference USA announced that four Southern Miss student athletes were named Players of the Week for performances last week. Golden Eagle volleyball players Ashley Mell and Kelsea Seymour earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively. Freddie Parham wide receiver and kick returner was named named Special Teams Player of the Week in football. Liz Hamlin was named the women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Head coach Larry Fedora announced the indefinite suspension of wide receiver Justin Jordan. Jordan's suspension is a result of a violation of team rules. Many fans saw Jordan in an altercation with teammate Gerald West in the last few minutes of the Golden Eagles victory over Virginia. Jordan was also seen arguing with a coach after the game.
