Lady Eagles Ink Another Player In Early Signing Period

Southern Miss coach Joye Lee-McNelis announced the signing of Tiara George to a basketball scholarship.

George, a 6-1 forward, averaged 11.0 points and 7.6 rebounds and two blocks for Coach Bryon Coleman at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas last season, helping her team to a 23-8 record and an appearance in the Region XIV Tournament. She earned Region XIV Freshman of the Year honors as she led Angelina in scoring and rebounding.

George played at Glen Oaks High School, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she averaged 16.2 points and 11.5 rebounds as a senior for Coach Harold Boudreaux. She was named first team all-state, a four-time first team all-district selection, while earning district Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2008 and 2007.
