Prairie View A&M was announced as the final out of conference opponent for the 2010 season. Prairie View defeated Alabama A&M, 30-24, in the SWAC championship game to win the title and the Panthers finished the year at 9-1.
Southeastern Louisiana was initially slated to be on the schedule, but the season opener at South Carolina forced SLU out.
Rumors circulated earlier this year that Mississippi Valley State would be playing in Hattiesburg, but terms could not be reached. There are also reports that Valley is struggling to meet NCAA certification. A team without certification can not be counted toward the necessary wins for the bowl eligibility.
