Lady Eagles Fall To Wolverines, Volleyball Advances In Tournament Play

The Lady Eagles basketball team has their first streak of the season. Unfortunately, it is a losing streak. The Michigan Wolverines blew out Southern Miss 91-54 Thursday night at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Poor shooting (34%) and turnovers (27) led to a long night for the Lady Eagles. Joye Lee-McNelis hopes to right the ship when Southern Miss (1-2) returns to action Monday night at home against William Carey.

The Southern Miss volleyball team beat Houston 3-1 Friday night to advance to the semifinals of the Conference USA Volleyball Championship at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas. This is the first time the Golden Eagles have advance to the C-USA semifinals and only the second time in the history pf the program. Southern Miss volleyball previously reached the Metro Conference semifinals in the 1985. The top-seeded Golden Eagles play #4 seed and tournament host Rice Saturday at 4pm. The winner advances to the championship game Sunday afternoon at 1pm. The championship match will be broadcast nationally by CBS College Sports.
